Current News     Puppy Update

I've had people call me about wanting a pup for Christmas.  I'm always a little frazzled when I hear that phrase.  I try to convey why puppies aren't good Christmas gifts.  I hope that as a breeder, all my puppies will always be fortunate enough for me to have really screened the homes they go to as well as the desire that the family has to include them as part of the family.

I saw this on one of my e-mail lists.  It's sad, but I hope it can make just one person reconsider getting a puppy as a gift.

Twas the nite before Christmas
when all thru the house Not a creature was stirring
not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there. The children all
nestled all snug in their beds With no thought of the dog filling
their head. And mamma in her kerchief and I in my cap Knew the dog
was cold, but didn't care about that. When out on the lawn there
arose such a clatter I sprang from the bed to see what was the
matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash figuring the dog was
free of his chain and into the trash. The moon on the breast of the
new fallen snow gave the luster of mid-day to objects below. When
what to my wondering eyes should appear But Santa Clause with eyes
full of tears. He unchained the dog once so lively and quick Last
year's Christmas present now painfully sick. More rapid than eagles
he called the dog's name and the dog ran to him despite all his
pain. Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen On Comet on
Cupid on Donner and Blitzen. To the top of the porch to the top of
the wall let's find this dog a home where he will be loved by all.
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year For Santa
had made one thing quite clear. The gift of a dog is not just for
the season We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons. In our
haste to think of the kids a gift there was one important thing we
missed A dog should be family, and cared for the same You don't
give a gift, then put it on a chain
. And I heard him explain as he
rode out of site, "You weren't given a gift, you were given a life."

We went to the English Springer Spaniel National Dog show in Arlington, TX Oct. 26-Nov. 1st.  Chip made the cut under Judge Judith Goodin in the DFWESSA regular classes.  We had a wonderful time!

Louisville, KY  Shows  (Aug. 28 - Sept. 1)

Mea captured a four point major in stiff competition under Judge Nikki Riggsbee!

Chip debuted at this cluster of shows and placed first in his class two days.  We were extremely happy with his happy go lucky attitude and performace and look forward to doing more conformation showing with him.

7/29/08  Chip is now "All Bets Are On At Daz-End, CGC"  As part of the Canine Manners Class, Chip was tested for the Canine Good Citizen program through AKC and he passed!  YEAH CHIP!!!!

Mea showed in Evansville, IN 7/18/08 under Robert Moore and was awarded WB for 2 points bringing her to a total of 6 points.  Our next shows will be at the Minnesota ESS Specialty in mid August and Mea will be shown by her breeder Sarah Kraft.

7/12/2008  Greta and Prints go BEST IN SHOW at the PetQuest Grooming Competition at Ft. Mitchell, KY!   This is now his second Best in Show and this is Greta's 3rd consecutive Best in show this year!  Congrats Greta!!!

New Picture from the Greentown Indiana show.

Mea showed in Terre Haute this weekend.  We placed in the classes and she did very well.  We will be actively showing her in hopes for more points soon.  She showed wonderfully and looked fantastic.  Thanks to Carol, we have a few pictures from this last weekend.

Prints went to Atlanta, Georgia to another grooming competition.  He won 3rd place in the Sporting Open Division.  We were so hoping for another Best in Show.  He also won a Group Three in the overall Sporting Division.  As usual Greta had him looking beautiful!

Mea (Tagalong With Me At Daz-End) competed in a huge class of 32 in the Open Bitch class at the English Springer National dog show.  Although she didn't get a placement, we were thrilled that she did make the cut!

Prior to the National, Mea went Best of Breed at the Columbus KC.

11/29/08  Dickens came to visit with us over Thanksgiving while his owner, Carol went to share

this holiday with some of her relatives.  Unexpectedly, she took a spill and had to have surgery

to repair a broken leg.  So... Dickens will be spending a little more time her while Carol

re-cooperates.  Here is a  photo's that was taken of Dickens and his mother, Emmy.

They really look so much alike!

10/19/08  Carol and Dickens came for a visit.  Wow Dickens has really grown up into a really nice puppy.  It's been really neat watching him grow and seeing so many similarities of his mother and father and piecing where this behavior or that look comes from.  Dickens has learned some new tricks and is such a smart guy!  Hopefully Carol will send me some more pictures and we'll get them up here.

Carol (finally... LOL!) sent me some updated pictures of Dickens....  Hopefully he'll get to come over for a visit in the near future so we can see him again!  He's a wonderful little guy and I know he makes Carol laugh.  He really looks wonderful and Carol has done a fantastic job keeping him groomed.  He graduates from his puppy obedience class this next week.  Congrats Carol and Dickens!!!!

Our puppies have now gone to their new homes, with the exception of Chip.  He's staying here with us.  It was sad as the puppies left, and exciting at the same time.  A piece of my heart left with the boys as they went to their forever homes.  I am just grateful that both boys will be in Indianapolis, where I will be able to see them from time to time and watch them grow up.

Robbie is now known as Mac (McCartney for short - Sir McCarney At Daz-End).  I received a letter from the Haines family and they are really happy with Mac!  He has another springer friend there named Sasha.  Here are some pictures that they shared with me.

Ernie is now known as Dickens - Dickens Fireside Tales At Daz-End.  Carol and I will be watching Dickens as he matures and possibly showing him in the ring.

Carol and Dickens are keeping very active.  Carol is introducing sign language to Dickens.  She has taught him so many things already and will be starting in obedience training in the near future. She has hopes of training him to be a seizure alert dog and we are both hopeful that she and Dickens can succeed in that endeavor.  He's a really smart little guy and the bond he has with Carol is absolutely wonderful!  Thanks Carol!
